About
Nestler Land Design is committed to creating functional, sustainable, ecologically sensitive landscapes that foster connections between people and the land on which they live. From master planning to detailed planting plans: integrating thoughtful design and beautiful plantings that provide pleasure throughout the seasons is the focus of the practice.
Margaret Nestler is a graduate of the Landscape Institute of Harvard University. She has designed private gardens in many of the western suburbs of Boston. Projects range from residential master planning to planting plans integrating edible plantings into ornamental landscapes. Public work includes master planning projects for community spaces and land trusts. She collaborated with Polly Reeve on the design of the Judge A. David Mazzone Memorial on Deer Island in Boston Harbor.
“This is the wonderful thing about gardening: trees are ever growing taller, shrubs developing, ground cover taking over. The scene changes and every year has its own character, influenced by frost, rainfall and sunshine - elements over which we have no control; but we can aim to plan so that each season has its moments of interest, with winter scent, spring blossoms and bulbs, summer exuberance and autumn color.”
